As winter weather may soon be moving in, I would like to share information with you concerning notifications of school closings this school year.
Any time weather conditions are too bad to have school, we will notify our families and our staff by posting to our official district Facebook page, making calls and texts, and by posting the closings to the following television stations:
27- WKYT
36-WTVQ
18- WLEX
57- WYMT
56- WDKY
If conditions are present at night by 9:00 p.m. we will do our best to cancel that night. However, if weather conditions are being predicted but the bad weather has not arrived in the evening, we will wait until the morning to make the call. The transportation director and superintendent will check the roads early in the morning and make a decision.
Evening phone calls will go out by 9:00 p.m. when possible, and morning calls will be made in two shifts. Bus drivers and cooks who have to arrive by 6:00 a.m. will get a call and text between 4:45 a.m.-5:00 a.m. or as soon as we make the decision. Calls will then go out to all parents and all staff starting between 5:45 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.
It is important for all staff and parents to keep their phone contact information updated in our student information system. Our calling system pulls from Infinite Campus. You may update your phone number at any time by contacting the school attendance clerks.
